PLANT CARE

Fertilizer:

We suggest fertilizing your plants twice a year with a commercial grade 16/16/16 granular fertilizer.  This needs to be done when plenty of rain or irrigation will wash in the nitrogen from the fertilizer. The beginning of April and September are good times to place 1/4 - 1/2 cup of fertilizer around the drip line of each plant.  A smaller 3-4 foot plant will only need 1/4 cup or less.

Water:

The first two years of planting should include a 5/8" round weeping soaker hose in the summer months.  A few hours of watering once a week is typically sufficient for the hot weather of July and August.  You should see a foot of growth a year with a proper watering schedule.
